Krislynn & Steve are getting married in only a few short weeks! We recently had their engagement session at Blithewold Mansion and holy amazing location! I can’t wait to shoot here again!
I really love photographing a couple that is genuinely IN LOVE. Like these two!! We had a lot of fun with their session and we shot until it was dark and we couldn’t see anymore 🙂
Here’s what they had to say about their relationship:
Tell us how you first met. Who, what, when, where, why?
K: I had been through a bunch of bad dates, boyfriends, etc, and was complaining to a friend of mine from a religious retreat I had done my senior year. He went to Roger Williams University with Steve, and suggested we talk and meet. We started talking on Facebook and he was just so different from anyone I’d ever dated before.
S: It was right before my sophomore year, in true Rhode Island fashion where everyone is connected by some acquaintance, Krislynn and I met through a mutual friend. He thought we would be compatible and he was right.
When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did?, etc.
K: Steve seemed to know from day one. I took a little longer. I think it was one of the first times I saw him playing with my niece, Amanda. I already loved him, but seeing him with her and how much they adored one another made me realize he was the man I could spend the rest of my life with.
S: I was quick to fall head over heels, but with how time consuming my schooling was, I was worried that Krislynn would get sick of the time we spent apart and how focused i had to be on my studies. It was when she started coming to RWU and spend all-nighters with me in the architecture studio, that i knew she would always be by my side.
Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning? , how did you feel? Nervous, excited, freaking out?)
K: We actually went to pick out the ring together. I knew Steve always wants the absolute best, and if I left it up to him he’d come home with some huge monstrosity of a ring that would look funny on my little hands. We went to Ross Simons, picked out the perfect solitaire, and the woman made this huge deal about I’ll try to get it back from sizing by Friday. We were disappointed because our 2 year anniversary was Thursday. Unbeknownst to me, he got the call that it was ready on Tuesday and hid it for the next two days. We even talked about how he was going to have to call to see if it was ready as we got dressed for our anniversary dinner. We went to our favorite Italian restaurant, Vercelli’s, in Bellingham, and had the silo portion of the building all to ourselves. At dinner, he was acting really funny, playing with my other ring, staring at me, being really emotional, and the next thing I knew he was on one knee on the floor! I was so surprised because I honestly didn’t think he had the ring, or that it would happen that night. We got home and my parents had gotten us flowers and an engagement card because he had also already sat down with them and asked them, and told him his whole plan.
S: In a way, it was quite old fashioned, almost to the point of being cliche. Asking her parents for permission, hiding the ring for a few days, proposing on one knee in a quiet little italian place. But Krislynn really made it special, becuase it was her, and thats all that ever mattered to me.
Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.
K: Steve is so open. It doesn’t take a crowbar to get his emotions out of him like it does for so many men. We can talk about anything and everything and I never have to question where he stands or what he’s feeling.
S: Krislynn loves everything and everyone, and though she thinks she is too “Mothering”, I have always cherished her caring nature.
I am super excited to capture their big day next Month! Check back in a few weeks for peaks of their big day.
